Catering Styles For Your Adelaide Wedding (or any event really!)

April 29, 2017

Whether it be a wedding or a large event, with so many options out there this catering business is confusing territory. Many Adelaide caterers offer a number of different catering styles and if you begin your enquiries without any idea then things can get seriously complicated. Use this list of catering styles to help you decide on the perfect option to suit your style and budget.

Food Truck Catering – With the huge popularity of food trucks and their increasing quality the food truck wedding is a seriously popular option. It suits a laid-back couple who aren’t overly hung up on table settings, however this no fuss service on wheels doesn’t have to mean average food. Adelaide has some fantastic food trucks out there and there are more and more popping up every day. The best way to choose your truck is to head along to one of Adelaide’s famous Fork on The Road festivals and order yourself a feast. Collect business cards of your favourites and make some enquiries on the night.

Canapé or Cocktail Catering – Who wants to sit down at a party anyway! Keep the atmosphere fun and your friends mingling with cocktail style catering. By offering many tasty morsels you won’t have any problems with fussy eaters either. Cocktail style catering also means that you save on table, chair and place settings too!

Share Table or Family Style – Think long tables and large shared platters of rustic goodness. If you are after that intimate family feast feeling then this may be the perfect option for you. Share table style catering is more communal than the traditional sit down dinner and is a fantastic way to encourage hearty conversation.

Formal or Sit Down Dinner – A hugely popular option for many brides and grooms for their wedding day. Meals are often served alternate drop and sometimes can be served to order. Everyone gets their own plate with no fights about who got more of what. A good caterer or venue will have a separate meal for your guests with dietary requirements so they don’t feel left out. Watch out though – although super glam, the formal sit down dinner can be one of the pricier catering options.

Buffett –Let your guests choose exactly what they’d like on their plates by serving a buffet. Buffets can suit all styles and budgets. Think anything from the famous seafood buffets of Vegas to the humble Aussie BBQ buffet with some great meat and some yummy salads. You can tailor a buffet to suit your budget perfectly and you don’t have to offer the usual suspects – think outside the box and ask us about some fun ideas!

Foodie on a Budget - You are saving your pennies but still want quality food. You can’t go past a seriously delicious authentic wood fired pizza handed around on rustic platters.  Another option is an authentic paella cooked right in front of your guest’s eyes! For a little extra glam team this budget friendly option with a gorgeous grazing table and a few canapes to begin the festivities.

Grazing Table – Is it even a wedding without a grazing table? You can’t pass up the extravagance of a giant table dripping with beautiful and delicious local goodies. Make your guests feel spoiled from the moment they arrive with this eye candy that tastes as good as it looks!

Alternative Dessert Ideas

Buffets – More eye candy but with real sugar this time. You can make a beautiful dessert buffet out of anything delicious. Our specialties are our famous panna cotta buffet served with a huge variety of toppings and embellishments. A fun way for your guests to tailor their own dessert.  Our home made Italian sweets table is also a crowd favourite.

Petit fours served cocktail style – Stick with the cocktail theme and serve your desserts bite sized and passed around of lovely platters.

Cheese Cakes – Not everyone has a sweet tooth so a gorgeously styled, tiered cheese wheel ‘cake’ is often a show stopper.
